The latest report comes just days after App Annie released its list of the most downloaded apps and games on Christmas Day 2021.
According to the report, TikTok was the most downloaded app globally and in the U.S. on Dec. 25, suggesting the app's continued popularity in the U.S. and beyond. Earlier this month, a Sensor Tower report revealed that the short video app was the highest grossing app globally this year ahead of YouTube, Tinder and Disney+.
App analytics and mobile industry intelligence firm Apptopia has released a new report that lists the most downloaded apps and games of 2021. TikTok came in at number one globally with 656 million downloads during the year, while Instagram came in at number two with 545 million downloads.
While the top two positions are occupied by the same two apps globally and in the U.S., the list veers off in slightly different directions thereafter.
