The Xiaomi T-series is expected to get a refresh soon, and early details have revealed it will have a hi-res camera and super-fast charging.
The Xiaomi 12T series will reportedly be launching soon, and before its announcement, details of the smartphone have surfaced, revealing key information. A few months ago, Xiaomi announced the Xiaomi 12S series, including the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, its premium flagship phone featuring Leica camera technology. However, the phone, alongside its siblings, the Xiaomi 12S and Xiaomi 12S Pro, which also carry the Leica branding, are sold exclusively in China.
While Xiaomi's CEO has confirmed that the next "Ultra" smartphone will get a global launch, the next-gen T-series, which is designed for international markets, is expected to appease customers until then. The T-series, which first debuted in June 2019, packs flagship features but also has some toned-down specs to make them affordable.
The Xiaomi 12T series will include a standard and a pro model, and both phones are expected to launch very soon. Leaked renders show the Xiaomi 12T and Xiaomi 12T Pro will have a near identical design. The two phones will have a flat display with a centered punch hole for the front-facing camera, while the back will be home to a rectangular island home to three cameras. As reported by Winfuture, Xiaomi will be cutting corners with the build as the two phones will have a plastic frame and not a metal one, as found in several other flagship phones. They will also have Gorilla Glass 5 protecting the display and not the stronger Gorilla Glass Victus, which graced the front of the Xiaomi 11T series.
While the build of both phones may leave a lot to be desired, the Xiaomi 12T series will be packing some pretty interesting specifications. According to the source, the Xiaomi 12T Pro will have a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 2712 × 1220 resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz. Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor will power it, and depending on the market, it will be available with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. However, the phone's highlight will be its 200MP primary rear camera with an f/1,69 aperture size. Unfortunately, the other cameras are less impressive. In addition to an 8MP ultrawide camera is a 2MP macro camera while a 20MP sensor sits in front.
On the other hand, the standard Xiaomi 12T will have the same screen size and resolution as the pro model. However, it will swap the Qualcomm processor for the Dimensity 8100 Ultra, which is a custom version of the Dimensity 8100. The chipset will be paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. The Xiaomi 12T will also get a 108MP primary camera but the same 8MP ultrawide angle camera and 2MP camera as the Xiaomi 12T Pro. Even the front-facing camera will be a 20MP sensor. Both phones will pack a 5000mAh battery like their predecessors and will have support for 120W fast charging. It is expected that they will come bundled with a charger.
Other reported details are Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, Wi-Fi 6, an IR blaster and Harman Kardon stereo speakers on the pro model. The two phones will also run Xiaomi's MIUI 13 based on Android 12 out of the box. In addition, it has been reported that the Xiaomi 12T will have a starting price of €649, while unconfirmed reports have said the Xiaomi 12T Pro will cost more at €849, which is pretty expensive considering its specs.
